American pianist Kay Zavislak enjoys a multi-faceted career as a performer, teacher, adjudicator, and clinician. She holds degrees Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Michigan. As a performer, Kay has given solo and chamber concerts regionally and nationally, in addition to public performances in Australia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, and Japan. In collaboration with flutist Leonard Garrison and saxophonist Bill Perconti, Kay has also recorded two commercial CDs for Centaur Records. Before joining her family in Bellingham WA in 2013, Kay was an Assistant Professor of Piano at the University of Idaho Lionel Hampton School of Music. She studied piano under the guidance of Arthur Greene, Logan Skelton, Yoshie Kora, and Miyoko Hamamoto, harpsichord with Edward Parmentier, and organ with Marilyn Mason.
Andrea Rackl graduated from WWU in 1998 after studies with Ford Hill, Jeffrey Gilliam, and Jacques Despres. Since then, she has concertized as far afield as Japan, serves as the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra’s principal keyboardist, and is known throughout the region as a soulful and engaging soloist and collaborator. Ms. Rackl maintains an active studio, where she teaches what she calls the Four Arts of Music: Interpretation, Improvisation, Arranging, and Composing. It is her mission to bring the joy of these arts to her students and her audiences.
Samantha Sinai, cellist, cello teacher, and music therapist, currently lives in Bellingham, Washington. She plays in the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra, holds a private cello studio, and coordinates Bellingham Youth Chamber Players. Through her music therapy experience, Samantha has seen time and time again the power music has to transform a moment. She feels that her work as a musician is to bring heartfelt, embodied music to people in meaningful, accessible ways in order to promote wellness for the individual and the community. Samantha completed her Master’s degree in Cello Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Uri Vardi. Samantha looks forward to cultivating her musicianship to continue to create experiences that touch the hearts of her listeners.
